I've been thinking seriously for the last year about starting up my photography business again. I love being around the camera, both in front and behind.
I've shot a couple engagements in the last year. Shooting 350-500 pictures for an engagement is easy enough, and generally doesn't require much specialized camera equipment. I have a couple lenses, some lens filters, and a tripod.
So since my wife and I have a tight budget, I never bothered getting more special equipment, until...
Recently, I was retained to shoot some photos at a wedding, and this gave me the incentive I needed to upgrade my camera equipment a bit. I bought a speedlight, and some extra spare batteries for the camera (so in an intense shoot I can have a battery on charge and one in the camera so I'll never run out of juice).
I'm considering in the coming months, perhaps as I get more photo work, upgrading with by getting more lenses as well.
So, here's the thing. I'd like to start getting photo work... but I live in the backwoods of Kentucky. Moving is not an option at this time.
I need to find photo work.
So I need ideas on how to advertise, where to advertise, what services to give away as freebies, what services to charge for. How should I start developing my business?
Any ideas?
